The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) is the Obama administration's effort to jump-start the US economy and job market. The ARRA is expected to save or create 3.5 million jobs over the next two years. The plan also includes provisions to help both employed and unemployed Americans: 95 percent of workers and their families will receive the Making Work Pay tax cut of up to $1,000, and millions of unemployed workers will receive an additional $100 in unemployment benefits per month. In addition, the plan includes funding to help unemployed workers pay for COBRA coverage.
While the stimulus is designed to create jobs across the economy, four strategic sectors are receiving the majority of stimulus funding targeted for job creation. Watch for opportunities in these key industries.
