Fancy yourself a handy person? These jobs are looking for you.

By Monster Staff

Whether you're looking for construction apprenticeships or you're already doing masonry, carpentry, inspection, electrical work, or something else entirely, know that construction jobs are poised for growth overall. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of construction and extraction occupations is projected to grow 10% from 2018 to 2028, faster than the average for all occupations. That translates to a gain of about 704,000 new jobs.

And if you've got the skills, there are employers out there looking for you. In fact, 80% of construction firms report they are having a hard time filling hourly craft positions that represent the bulk of the construction workforce, according to the results of a 2019 industry-wide survey released by Autodesk and the Associated General Contractors of America. That's one of the reasons construction apprenticeships are a great career move. Furthermore, according to Apprenticeship.gov, 94% of people who complete an apprenticeship retain employment.
